Intro 00:12
2.
Black Coffee 03:11
Black coffee laughs inside this stubborn host Pretending it's not time to go home And lay off parts of me grown dull If there's a path I'd prefer not to take it on my own A hand to hold might be just enough If there's a path I'd prefer not to take it on my own But it is down to only myself to clear the debris out Oh my black coffee Black coffee rises again It is part of me but took control over you
3.
Tonight I'm talking more and more to myself after a couple of beers Could it set me free from all thse cobwebs and bones? Just the other night, I was mixing up a little heaven and hell On the other side, I came up fine but you could hardly tell If the light in my eyes in yours is dead I'll be damned Is there anything under the sun? Is there anything under the sun? To keep the wolves back I can see'em through the walls cracks Sit in tonight for another round of equations Blood on the right thumb painting over chaos Point me to where the world doesn't come undone
4.
I would hate to leave you with a broken heart Can you imagine us growing old And then suddenly being apart? Let's hold on to the moments we have And make sure it echoes At this point I don't think I'll ever be able to retire At this point I don't think I'll ever be able to retire Meanwhile I don't want our weekends to end Oh I am so sorry to say I don't want to be the one left standing I would hate to leave you with a broken heart But it is bound to happen to one of us I'm hopeful, there'll be some friends to share with Of flesh or pretend At peace with the fulfillment of the Common Prayer I'm hopeful, we had enough to take some sad off the tears Enough to bring light to the darkest of nights The menacing moon back to its loving beam At this point I don't think I'll ever be able to retire At this point I don't think I'll ever be able to retire Meanwhile I don't want our weekends to end Oh I am so sorry to say I don't want to be the one left standing I don't want to be the one left standing I don't want to be the one left standing I don't want to be the one left standing
5.
Can't hide this time by your side I go back, you go forth, we can't stop I can't deny, you can't prove, so all right I can't stand up, you can't fall down to the ground Don't know how things have gotten this far To see it all fall down To feel this mess around On our lover's plan Sometimes a plan is a failure from the start I go back, you go forth, we can't stop Just like earthquakes

about

On March 19th, Grand Wreck's third EP in less than two years, Left Standing, will be coming out.

As opposed to last year's EP, Quiet, which was a reflection of one's relationship with music and the idea of reconnecting to it and beginning anew, Left Standing is about reimagining songs from the past in a way that represents the future of the band. Three of the four songs in the EP were originally recorded by Fernando's previous bands, Lambda Lambda Lambda and Isosceles Kramer. The title song being the sole original song.

The punk rock profile of Quiet is dialed down allowing for the country and folk influences, already present then, to take center and front in this batch of songs. The loud fuzz electric guitars substituted by flatpicked acoustic guitars and piano greatness.

A pandemic baby, Left Standing was completely recorded in Fernando's 6x6 feet home studio except for contributions from Leandro Padin in all keyboard matters and some backing vocals.

Black Coffee and Under The Sun were originally released in Lambda Lambda Lambda 2010 album Cold Wind High Sun.

A Lover's Plan was originally released in Isosceles Kramer 2014 album I.K.

---

Grand Wreck's first release came out in May 2019 and is a very low-profile acoustic version of songs that he has been working on since 2017. These same songs were finally released in July 2020 in an EP called Quiet, but now with full arrangements.

Coming up in March 2021, Grand Wreck's third EP Left Standing will feature an original song as well three "covers" of Fernando's previous bands.

Fernando started playing guitar in bands in the late 90s and continued to do so in different shades of punk rock for more than a decade, when he joined the seminal hardcore band No Violence, helped shape the country punk of Besta Fera and the garage punk of B.U.S.H. He also formed and played with the caffeinated melodic punk rock Lambda Lambda Lambda and post hardcore Isosceles Kramer.

Around 2005, he started playing solo acoustic shows supporting a demo of folk songs. This turned into his main output for the last decade, releasing a couple of acoustic driven folk albums as F. Chovich.
